inheritance

a brackish sky, a barren hill, an empty street
a land
raped by railroads and gold
a nation, bent to the will of a people and a movement long since dead
and wasting away
cast aside the decaying carcass of your forefathers.
there is nothing in your history but shame.

what came before us, was a culture that traded in deprivation,
whorish chronic masterbators and self delusional con artists.
beware the old,
a child may steal a pack of cigarettes and fuck up your credit
but the giant, gaping wounds gouged out of your hide are bites taken by the generations before you
those who were strong when you were weak
those who protected their self interests by
destroying yours.
our world is in shambles,
and every self entitled
maniac wielding a drivers license and a right to vote,
every liquor buying, porn reading, loan taking heart attack
is waiting in line to suck your blood the moment
you become a man
