heat

with heat,
when experienced,
it is a sensation assumed to be only in passing.

A burn in the past tense
we are unprepared,

for the possibility that it will be hot, for a longer time than is bearable
an investigation, ended, for insufficient evidence
but what if the assumption is wrong
and it can burn forever?
we live under the idea, that cold is the permanent, and those flashes of heat, are only a star, in a vast distance of dark.

sometimes i have seen heat, strong enough to tear a hole in the sky
for a few moments
giving the appearance that such heat could last forever
nothing left, but burned air, and dust.
really, just super hot
and no one will notice
no one will remember
just what got you there
