BUTCHERS CAVE

VIA DZRTGRLS- Little information about this site is available to the general public as the National Park Service will not reveal any of the archaeological information about the cave. However, rumor has it that the cave was found in the 1920's by a hunter. At that time, supposedly, it was filled with around fifty bighorn sheep skulls and horns.

VIA MKTYE-since we’d entered that valley… “get out”. There was something not right about this area. In general, most of the park has a nice, feel-good vibe to it. It can be harsh, daunting and incredibly dangerous, but not scary. However, this valley and particularly the cave were somehow different. Creepy. Bad. A purely instinctive feeling that we should not be there.

THE SKULLS ARE GONE

via everythign 2-Just a short distance away we stumbled across a pagan shrine built around a bighorn skull. The skull was very white, surrounded by five small stacks of white stones and wildflowers.
